Message from the WFAS President

Dear Sirs and Madams,

The WFAS 2005 International Symposium of Acupuncture is scheduled to be held in Lisbon , the capital of Portugal , on November 4-6, 2005 . I have the honor, in the name of WFAS President, to invite you to attend the meeting.

Since its establishment in 1987, with the support of WHO and the governments of some countries together with the collective efforts of acupuncture colleagues worldwide, WFAS 2005 has successfully held 6 World Academic Conferences on Acupuncture and 11 International Acupuncture Symposia. These conferences and symposia have made due contribution to promoting the transmission and development of acupuncture science and practices internationally.

The 2005 Symposium theme is “Acupuncture: New ways for the 21 st Century Medicine”. It will focus on the exchange and discussion of clinical experience, scientific research, acupuncture anaesthesia and legislation. In addition, a comprehensive exhibition of acupuncture and Chinese medicine equipment, products and technology will be offered to provide extensive opportunities for business development and international cooperation.

We believe that the symposium will be an event for acupuncture, as the important resource of health-care, to play an active role in the economy and development of healthcare systems of all countries, and it will assist the quicker development of acupuncture itself.

Finally, I sincerely hope that the symposium could benefit from the great support of your association in attending and we'll see each other in the beautiful city of Lisbon , once the stage for the great Age of Exploration.

With best wishes!

Yours faithfully,

Prof. Deng Liangyue

President of WFAS
